Task A - Research
Research a range of documents from different organisations (eg newspapers, magazines, government
information booklets, school/college prospectuses, advertisements) for different audiences: kids, teens
(girls/boys or both?), young men, young women, older women, older men.
For each magazine you list, try to identify a Unique Selling Point (USP) that would attract the target reader.
A USP is a feature or benefit that separates the product from its competitors and is used to promote sales.
The four magazine portal websites below might be a good starting point for your research.

Task B - Sketches
1. Produce 3 different hand drawn sketches for your publication using ideas from your research.
You do not need to produce plans for each page, a front page and a sample page for each design is
sufficient. Your 3 sketches should show three completely different layouts and house styles for the same two
pages e.g. the front cover of the magazine and one inside page. Each alternative design
should not be larger than two A4 pages.
Also give the name of the software package you will use and explain why

These plans must include:

• page layouts (page size, margins, number of columns, space between columns)
• styles to be used in the booklet (number of font styles, font face, size, emphasis, alignment, leading,
paragraph spacing, indents and tabs, bullets).
• house style

look at the examples of the sketches
